Zipper Bootcamp: Mastering Zippers for Bag Making

If zippers have ever made you hesitate before starting a bag, this class is for you.

In this hands-on, skill-focused workshop, we will break down multiple ways to install zippers in bags and practice them through a series of small pouches and a large tote. You will work with different types of zippers, explore various installation methods, and build real confidence through repetition.

This is not about finishing one big bag. It is about strengthening your technique so that future bag projects feel smoother, cleaner, and far less intimidating.

During these two 3-hour sessions, you will:

• Install zippers using several different construction methods

• Work with different zipper types and understand when to use each

• Practice techniques that prevent wavy zippers and bulky corners

• Improve topstitching accuracy and overall zipper placement

• Build muscle memory through repetition and guided instruction

By the end of class, you will leave with completed samples, a stronger understanding of zipper construction, and the confidence to approach your next bag project without second-guessing yourself.

This workshop is ideal for adventurous beginners who have basic sewing machine experience and for bag makers who want to refine and strengthen their zipper skills.
