This adorable patchwork bag has been popping up everywhere lately, and it’s just as fun to make as it looks.
In this two-session workshop, you’ll create your own Cosy Cottage Tote by Square Stories, a whimsical, story-filled bag that combines patchwork piecing with foundation paper piecing (FPP) to build that signature cottage design. It’s roomy enough to hold all your daily essentials (or a whole picnic’s worth of supplies) and still feels like a little piece of art you get to carry around.
We’ll work through both patchwork construction and FPP techniques, focusing on accuracy, organization, and how to keep all those small pieces manageable. This is a great project for using scraps and fussy cutting, so dig into your stash and bring a mix of fabrics. No perfection required, this is all about building something playful and personal.
This class is split into two sessions, with homework in between to keep things moving and make sure we stay on track. The result is a detailed, technique-rich project that’s incredibly satisfying to finish.
Important: This pattern uses foundation paper piecing and does not teach the basics of FPP. You should already have some experience with FPP before taking this class.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate
Comfortable with your sewing machine, maintaining consistent seam allowances and some prior FPP experience helpful
Pattern: The Cosy Cottage by Square Stories. This is a PDF only pattern and you are responsible for purchasing and bringing your own copy. Available for purchase here.
Finished Size: Approximately 15” x 15” x 5”

I totally understand that schedules can get a little wild sometimes! If something comes up and you can’t make it to class, here’s how I handle cancellations:
- More than 72 hours before class: No worries at all—I'm happy to either move you to a future session or give you a full refund.
- Less than 72 hours before class starts: Let me know as soon as you can. If I’m able to fill your spot, I’ll gladly move you to another date or issue you store credit to use later.
- No-show with no notice: Your class fee will be forfeited. I know that’s a bummer, but I’ve already planned, prepped, and paid for your spot—kind of like buying a concert ticket. If you can’t make it and give me a heads up, there’s a much better chance I can help!
If you’re unsure what applies to your situation, just reach out—I’m always happy to talk it through and see what we can figure out.
