Makers Tote by Noodlehead - Printed Paper Pattern

The Makers Tote by Noodlehead is a roomy carry-all inspired by a classic doctor’s bag and designed with makers in mind. With plenty of pockets and a wide-opening design, it’s perfect for keeping sewing, knitting, art supplies, or other creative projects organized and ready to go.

The pattern includes two sizes and features a zippered back pocket, interior pockets, sturdy handles, and an optional top zipper closure.

This pattern is best suited for intermediate to advanced bag makers. You should be confident sewing bias binding, and previous bag-making experience will be helpful.

Finished Sizes:

• Regular: 16" W x 13" H x 7½" D
• Small: 12" W x 10" H x 6" D

Materials Needed:

Requirements are based on 44"-wide fabric. Requirements in parentheses are for the Small size.

• Exterior Fabric: 5/8 yard (1/2 yard)
• Lining Fabric: 1 1/4 yards (1 yard)
• Pocket Fabric: 1 1/4 yards (1 yard)
• Accent Fabric for binding and handles: 1/2 yard
• 20"-wide Fusible Woven Interfacing: 1 1/2 yards
• 44"-wide Fusible Mid-weight Interfacing: 1 yard
• ByAnnie's Soft and Stable: 1/2 yard, or 1 yard of 20"-wide Pellon Flex-Foam
• 18" separating zipper (14" for Small), OR 18" (14" for Small) of #5 nylon coil zipper tape + 1 zipper pull
• 10" non-separating zipper for back pocket (7" for Small), OR 11" (8" for Small) of #5 nylon coil zipper tape + 1 zipper pull

Recommended Fabrics:

Cotton canvas, cotton/linen canvas, denim, twill, home décor fabric, or quilting cotton for the exterior. Quilting cotton is recommended for the lining and pockets.

Additional Supplies + Tools:

Thread, water-soluble marking pen, cutting mat, ruler, rotary cutter, turning tool, two 1/4" x 5" strips of leather or ribbon for zipper pulls, denim needle, one size 24 pronged metal snap set, snap-setting tool, binder clips, pinking shears, washable fabric glue stick, 25mm bias tape maker, and 1/4"-wide fusible web tape.

If you choose not to install the optional top zipper, you can substitute 2–3 additional sets of snaps.
