Ready to loosen up your sewing and try something completely different?

This two-session class invites you to step away from patterns and perfection and lean into creativity, intuition, and play. You’ll explore improv piecing through a collage-style approach, layering fabrics, textures, and embellishments to create a one-of-a-kind piece.

You’ll meet twice, with a week break in between, giving you time to reflect and continue working on your project between sessions.

Terry will show you how to turn your finished fabric collage into a journal cover or small pouch, but you’re not limited to that. Your piece can become whatever you want it to be, this class is just the starting point.

Techniques for layering, arranging, and composing fabric
Using texture, color, and contrast to guide your design
Simple ways to secure and embellish your collage
How to turn your piece into a functional project

What’s Included

Interfaced collage “canvas” base
A curated selection of fabrics to get you started
Access to additional fabrics, scraps, lace, and decorative materials

Many of the fabrics you’ll work with have been hand-dyed and thoughtfully curated by Terry, who sources unique textile treasures and gives them a second life.

What to Bring

Scissors
Needle and thread
Sewing machine (optional)
Optional but encouraged: Fabric scraps, lace, ribbons, beads, or meaningful materials

Gather materials you’d like to incorporate
Think about a loose idea, color palette, or feeling
No plan needed, this is a process-driven class

About the Experience

This class focuses on exploration over perfection. You’ll be guided through techniques while developing your own creative voice in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Cancellation Policy

I totally understand that schedules can get a little wild sometimes! If something comes up and you can’t make it to class, here’s how I handle cancellations:

More than 72 hours before class: No worries at all—I'm happy to either move you to a future session or give you a full refund.
Less than 72 hours before class starts: Let me know as soon as you can. If I’m able to fill your spot, I’ll gladly move you to another date or issue you store credit to use later.
No-show with no notice: Your class fee will be forfeited. I know that’s a bummer, but I’ve already planned, prepped, and paid for your spot—kind of like buying a concert ticket. If you can’t make it and give me a heads up, there’s a much better chance I can help!
